RCA's Professional Certificate in Producing & Production Management is a 20-week intensive programme designed to develop practical, industry-ready skills in planning, organising and managing film and television production.
Students learn how to take a project from concept through planning and production towards delivery, while coordinating people, resources, schedules, budgets and the practical demands of getting a production made.
This Professional Certificate programme is delivered by Revele Creative Academy and accredited by the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB). Students who successfully complete the programme receive a Professional Certificate bearing both RCA and AUCB.
Curriculum
What You Will Learn
The programme develops the practical, organisational and leadership skills required to move a screen project through production.
Production Planning
Understanding what a project requires and turning creative intentions into an executable production plan.
Script Breakdown
Analysing a script to identify the people, locations, equipment and materials needed to produce it.
Budgeting & Cost Tracking
Building budgets and monitoring production expenditure.
Scheduling
Organising the work of the production into a realistic schedule.
Production Documentation
Preparing call sheets and other documents used to organise and communicate production activity.
Team Coordination
Working across departments and ensuring that people, information and resources come together when required.
Production Leadership
Taking responsibility for assigned production roles, communicating clearly and solving problems constructively.
Post-Production Coordination
Understanding the producer’s role beyond the shoot and moving the project towards completion.

Lead a Production
Producing becomes real when plans meet the realities of production. Students apply their learning by working within production teams and coordinating a short film project.
They experience the practical demands of planning the work, communicating across departments, responding to problems and helping move the production towards delivery. This develops something that cannot be taught through a spreadsheet alone: judgement, responsibility and leadership under production conditions.

The Producer Works Across Departments
Production requires the work of writers, directors, actors, cinematographers, art departments, makeup/hair/SFX, editors and others to come together within practical constraints. Students therefore develop experience in cross-departmental coordination, learning how decisions involving budget, schedule, resources and logistics affect the work of the entire production.
