Start Your Creative Career at RCA

RCA welcomes aspiring filmmakers and creative professionals who are ready to develop practical skills for film and television.

Our Professional Certificate programmes combine structured teaching, practical exercises, collaboration and production experience. Applicants do not necessarily need previous film-school training; what matters is that they meet the relevant entry route and are prepared to participate fully in an intensive practical programme.

Entry Requirements

Two Ways In

RCA retains two entry routes. Neither is a lesser path — they are two different kinds of evidence that you are ready for the programme.

Route One

Academic Entry Route

For applicants who meet RCA's stated academic entry requirements.

Route Two

Creative / Professional Entry Route

For applicants whose creative ability, professional experience, portfolio, audition or other relevant experience provides an alternative basis for admission.

The Process

How to Apply

1

Choose Your Programme

Review the Professional Certificate courses and select the programme you wish to study.

2

Complete the Application Form

Provide your personal details, educational background and any relevant creative or professional experience.

3

Submit the Required Information

Provide the supporting documents or materials relevant to your application route and chosen programme.

4

Application Review

RCA reviews the application and may contact the applicant where further information, an interview, audition or portfolio review is required.

5

Admission Decision

Successful applicants receive an offer of admission together with instructions for accepting the offer.

6

Accept Your Place & Complete Registration

Complete the required registration and payment steps by the stated deadlines to secure your place.

Selection

Course-Specific Selection

Where appropriate, RCA may use interviews, auditions, portfolios, writing samples or other course-relevant assessments as part of the admissions process.

Submitting an application does not guarantee admission. RCA reviews every application on its merits and may contact you for further information before making a decision.

After the Decision

Receiving an Offer and Securing a Place Are Separate Stages

An offer does not reserve a place indefinitely without completion of the required acceptance, payment and registration steps.

Offer of Admission

Confirmation that the applicant has been accepted onto the programme.

Acceptance

The applicant confirms that they wish to take the place offered.

Payment

The applicant completes the required initial payment by the stated deadline.

Registration

Required documentation and registration formalities are completed.

Orientation

Registered students attend orientation before teaching begins.

Fees

Fees and Securing Your Place

Tuition fees vary by programme. A separate GHS 1,000 Production Fee applies to the Professional Certificate programmes and contributes towards the consumable and production costs associated with RCA's practical production activity.

The Production Fee does not represent the full cost of producing RCA student films, which may involve equipment, locations, costumes, professional performers and other production resources provided or arranged by RCA.

Production Fee — Payment Timing

The Production Fee must be paid by the deadline specified by RCA and well in advance of the production period.

For the October 2026 intake, the Production Fee forms part of the student's financial commitment at registration, even where the approved payment structure allows it to be paid in an agreed early instalment.
