What You Will Learn

The course combines broadcast presentation with practical digital-content creation, building from voice and camera technique through to launching an original show of your own.

Voice & Microphone

Breathing, projection, articulation, pace and microphone technique for a natural presenting voice.

Camera Presence

Confidence, eye contact, body language, energy and authenticity — for television cameras and for mobile alike.

Scripted & Unscripted

Natural script delivery, basic autocue, presenting from bullet points, ad-libbing and recovering from mistakes.

Interviewing

Researching guests, sequencing questions, active listening, follow-up and managing an interview professionally.

Hosting & Moderating

Talk-show formats, running orders, guest management, programme flow and moderating a panel.

Podcasting

Audio and video podcast formats, host personality, structuring a discussion, opening and closing.

Location Presenting

Pieces to camera, vox pops, presenter positioning and working with environmental sound.

Digital Content

Short-form content, hooks and strong openings, mobile-first presentation, adapting and repurposing.

Audience & Commercial

Content planning, brand voice, introductory analytics, platform revenue, sponsorship and brand partnerships.

Practice, Not Theory

Learn By Presenting

Every week is built around recording, playback and review.

Students present to camera from Week 1 and compare their final presentation against that Week 1 baseline in Week 20 — the progress is measured against themselves.

Conduct a recorded one-to-one interview

Host and record a talk-show segment

Record a podcast or video-podcast

20% of Assessment

Launch Your Own Digital Show

Across the second half of the course each student develops an original Digital Show or content brand — concept, intended audience, purpose, format, name and identity — then takes it through full pre-production and production.

In Week 19 the approved content is actually published, with a supporting social-media plan, and the initial audience response reviewed. The Digital Show is worth 20% of the course assessment.

Evidence of Your Craft

Build a Professional Showreel

By the end of the programme students present a professional showreel and portfolio drawn from:

Direct-to-camera presentation

Your professional one-to-one interview

Your talk-show hosting

Podcast and panel material

Location pieces to camera

Short-form digital content

Your original Digital Show

Audience Numbers Are Not Assessed

Audience size, follower numbers, views and revenue are not used as measures of student performance. The Digital Show is assessed on concept, preparation, execution and suitability for its intended audience — not on how many people watched it.

Assessment

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessment is weighted towards practical work and production — because that is how the craft is actually judged.
